  • 12 Days of Liberty Alliance: The China Threat

    December 29, 2025

The threat posed to our state and our citizens by China is real.

Chinese communists sued Eric Schmitt for $50 million. They bought up land right outside of Whiteman Air Force Base.

As the 2026 legislative session gets underway in Jefferson City, lawmakers are moving to confront foreign adversaries that seek to exert influence over our politics, our land, and our economic interests. These efforts reflect a growing understanding that state policy must defend Missouri’s sovereignty and security.

This post continues our 12 Days of Liberty Alliance series, highlighting key conservative legislation to watch this session. Today, we spotlight bills aimed squarely at countering China’s influence. If you missed earlier installments, catch up on highlighted bills addressing court reform, election integrity, and law and order.

Foreign Adversary Lobbying Ban. Senate Bill 1380 closes a dangerous loophole that allows foreign adversaries like the Communist Chinese to influence Missouri policy through paid lobbying efforts.

The legislation prohibits registered lobbyists from accepting compensation from foreign adversaries or their agents, including entities tied to the Chinese Communist Party. It also establishes enforcement authority and penalties to ensure compliance and transparency.

Missouri should never allow hostile foreign governments to buy access to our lawmakers or shape public policy behind closed doors. SB 1380 draws a clear line in defense of state sovereignty and national security.

Protect Our Military Bases. Senate Bill 947 targets the growing threat posed by foreign ownership of land near sensitive military and defense installations.

The bill restricts foreign individuals, businesses, and governments from acquiring real property within a defined radius of military bases and certain strategic facilities, and creates enforcement mechanisms to ensure divestment when violations occur.

Allowing hostile foreign actors to control land near Missouri’s military assets is a clear national security risk. SB 947 puts Missouri on record that its land and infrastructure are not for sale.

House Bill 1668 protects Missouri taxpayers from having their public dollars invested in companies tied to foreign adversaries.

The legislation requires state and local government entities to divest from investments connected to foreign adversaries, cutting off financial support for regimes that undermine American interests and security.

Missouri should not bankroll governments that oppose our values or threaten our nation. HB 1668 builds on the great work of Treasurer Malek in divesting the state from China, and ensures public funds are aligned with Missouri values.

Protecting our land, our institutions, and our taxpayer dollars should be a bipartisan priority.

The state has a responsibility to defend its sovereignty just as seriously as it defends public safety.

While we’ve reached bill number 12 of 2026, we’re not done yet. The most important bill of the legislative session hasn’t even been filed yet.

    Stay tuned.
