LIBERTY ALLIANCE PRAISES PASSAGE OF
BAN ON FOREIGN FUNDING OF BALLOT MEASURE CAMPAIGNS

Kansas City, MO. Today, the Missouri House of Representatives passed SB 152, banning the funding of Missouri ballot measure campaigns by foreign nationals.

SB 152 was sponsored by Senator Ben Brown and handled in the House by Representatives Jim Murphy and Ben Baker. This action comes after the foreign-backed Sixteen Thirty Fund spent $8 million supporting ballot measures in Missouri in 2024.

Missouri is the sixth state to close the foreign influence loophole this year.

“Americans overwhelmingly agree that foreign nationals should not be allowed to influence our elections,” said Executive Director Andy Bakker. “Foreign nationals cannot donate to candidates and shouldn’t be allowed to donate to ballot measures either. The Governor should sign this bill into law as soon as it hits his desk.”
