Less Than Three Weeks
Missouri’s legislative session ends on Friday, May 16th.
That means we have less than three weeks to add to the Conservative victories that have already crossed the finish line.
So, where do things stand?
Public Safety
Entering the session, Governor Kehoe made clear that public safety was his number one priority.
With the help of Conservatives in the legislature, he delivered.
HB 495 returned the St. Louis Municipal Police Department to citizen board control, addresses the fentanyl crisis, and requires accurate reporting of crime statistics.
Missouri proved again that it will always back the blue.
Tax Cuts
Although Missouri is unlikely to eliminate its income tax this year, we made bigger strides than ever.
Legislation to eliminate the income tax was passed out of committee in both chambers. The Governor continues to publicly support the idea. The Legislature took the bold step of eliminating income taxes on capital gains.
We celebrate these wins and recommit to working for the full elimination of the income tax that Missouri’s working families deserve.
Election Integrity
Missouri is under attack. Radical Left-wingers know that they can’t get their candidates elected anymore, so they’ve turned to exploiting the initiative petition system.
The legislature already passed SB 22, returning power over ballot summaries to the people’s elected Secretary of State. Previously, unelected Liberal judges rewrote ballot summaries to match their policy preferences.
Still, the most important thing Missouri can do to secure its elections is to ban foreign funding of ballot measure campaigns. Foreign billionaires exploited this loophole in 2024 to the tune of $8 million in support of Amendment 3 and Prop A.
The foreign funding ban legislation (SB 152) will be heard in the House Rules Committee this morning. Tell your House Member that you support it.
We’ve got less than three weeks to make an impact.
