Conservative Champion: Scott Fitzpatrick

Guarding Missouri’s Taxpayer Dollars with Integrity and Common Sense
When Missourians elected Scott Fitzpatrick to serve as State Auditor, they chose a leader who understands that every tax dollar represents the hard work of Missouri families. From day one, Fitzpatrick has taken that responsibility seriously. He’s brought business smarts, conservative principles, and a relentless drive for accountability to Jefferson City.
That’s why we’re proud to recognize him as our latest Conservative Champion.
Building a Missouri Business from the Ground Up

Scott Fitzpatrick knows what it means to build something from scratch. At just seventeen years old, he founded MariCorp U.S., a dock repair and marina construction business based in Shell Knob, Missouri. What started as a small summer job quickly grew into a thriving company employing dozens of Missourians and serving customers across the country.
That experience shaped his view of government and fiscal responsibility. As a business owner, he learned firsthand how red tape, overregulation, and wasteful spending hurt the people trying to build something real. Those lessons guide his approach to public service today. Government should be run with the same discipline and accountability that make small businesses succeed.
Expanding Opportunity: The MOScholars Program

As State Treasurer, Scott Fitzpatrick helped launch one of Missouri’s most transformative education reforms, the MOScholars Program.
Passed by the General Assembly in 2021, MOScholars created Empowerment Scholarship Accounts for families of students with disabilities or from low-income backgrounds. Fitzpatrick’s office turned that idea into action by certifying Educational Assistance Organizations, managing contributions, and ensuring accountability to both donors and families.
Under his leadership, the Treasurer’s Office opened applications and rolled out Missouri’s first-ever K-12 scholarship initiative in 2022. The program has already given parents greater freedom to choose the education that fits their children best.
- – More than 1,300 Missouri students received scholarships in the first year
- – Dozens of participating schools joined statewide
- – Millions in private donations helped expand educational choice
A Proven Record of Fiscal Leadership
After serving six years in the Missouri House of Representatives, Fitzpatrick became State Treasurer in 2019, where he oversaw billions in state investments, helped maintain Missouri’s AAA credit rating, and safeguarded the state’s pension funds. Now, as State Auditor, Fitzpatrick brings that same discipline to every audit and focuses on how every penny of taxpayer money is spent.
High-Profile Audits and Achievements
Scott Fitzpatrick’s leadership as State Auditor has produced results. Government workers should know that if they abuse taxpayer money, they will be held accountable.
- – Hickman Mills C-1 School District Audit: Following whistleblower reports, Fitzpatrick’s office launched a full performance audit uncovering potential misuse of funds, including questionable school trips and a $1.4 million technology contract termination fee.
- – City of Holland Audit: His team’s audit of the City of Holland found more than $66,000 missing and documented misconduct by the former acting mayor, including nepotism and misuse of public funds.
- – St. Louis Development Corporation Investigation: The Auditor’s Office opened a high-profile audit of the SLDC after credible allegations surfaced regarding improper grant awards and severance payments in a small-business and nonprofit program.
- – Jackson County Property Assessment Audit: Fitzpatrick’s office enforced subpoenas through a court petition against the Jackson County Assessor’s Office and its vendor over missing 2023 property-inspection data, standing up for homeowners demanding transparency.
- – Statewide Single Audit: His team’s 2025 Single Audit Report reviewed how state agencies managed roughly $21.1 billion in federal funds and flagged repeated oversight weaknesses affecting more than $3 billion in subrecipient grants.
Fitzpatrick’s office even brought government audits to the podcast sphere, launching the World’s Greatest Audit Podcast to help the public understand audits in an accessible way.
Scott Fitzpatrick is truly one of Missouri’s most active and effective State Auditors; a watchdog who delivers results and makes government work for the people.
A Conservative Champion for Missouri Values
Whether managing the state’s investments or auditing its agencies, Fitzpatrick leads with the same guiding principles. Smaller government. Fiscal responsibility. Transparency. His work to expand audit authority, protect taxpayer dollars, and promote parental choice has made Missouri stronger and more accountable to the people it serves.
Beyond the spreadsheets and audits, Scott Fitzpatrick is a husband, father, and business owner who knows what it means to work hard and give back. His leadership is rooted in faith, family, and a deep respect for the values that make Missouri great. He continues to prove that integrity, accountability, and conservative stewardship are not just talking points. They are a way of life.
