Conservative Champion: Brad Hudson
Brad Hudson’s resume is extensive and distinguished. Farmer, preacher, county assessor, state representative, and now state senator are just some of the roles that he has held. He’s made an impact with each experience, and Missouri has been better off because of it.
This is his story.
Brad Hudson is a native of Southwest Missouri. His Stone County roots laid a foundation for the bold, conservative leadership that he displays daily. He spent his days on the farm hauling hay, fixing fences, and tending to livestock. These experiences taught him the importance of patience, hard work, and the understanding that nothing is handed to you. If you want to make something happen, you have to make it happen.
His upbringing was also transformational. On the farm, he developed a relationship with God. Spending time with His creation gave him time to reflect on the goodness of Him. This changed his life and instilled a calling to lead from the pulpit.
Hudson answered that call.
Hudson led a great church for 12 years and loved everything about it. Through his sermons, he preached on consequential issues of our day, and some of these messages included calls to action for his congregation to get civically engaged. This stirred up a conviction in his own heart to do the same.
So when he was approached to run for county office in 2008, he decided to answer his own call.
His tenure as Stone County Assessor was nothing short of a success. It was also historical. Hudson stood by his belief in a smaller and limited government when he asked the Stone County commission to have less money for his budget.
Hudson proved to be a good steward of the taxpayers’ money, so it wasn’t surprising that there were many who wanted him to serve in Jefferson City. He decided to run for State Representative in 2018.
And just like he has in previous roles, he hit the ground running.
Of his accomplishments, one of note is being the House Handler for the “Missouri Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act”. This consequential piece of legislation prohibited doctors from providing “sex change” surgeries for minors. However, this didn’t come without attacks from the Left. Hudson remained resolute and held the line. He knew he was on the right side of history.
Proven results led to even more opportunities for Hudson. When Hudson decided to run for State Senate, the people of Southwest Missouri were thrilled.
Since taking that office, he has excelled. Among many other key accomplishments, he has been a champion of free speech, especially in an environment where the left has tried to silence the voices of conservative college students.
