Statement from Liberty Alliance USA regarding Jean Peters Baker’s conflict of interest
Today, Liberty Alliance USA Executive Director Chris Vas released the following statement regarding yesterday’s announcement by Jackson County Prosecutor and Missouri Democrat Party Chairwoman Jean Peters Baker:
“Since the day Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker was elected chairwoman of the Missouri Democrat Party, government watchdogs and ethics groups have repeatedly warned that Peters Baker has a major conflict of interest. Just yesterday, Peters Baker stated that she herself would play a role in Missouri’s primary election, fielding complaints and monitoring irregularities for Missouri’s presidential preference primary,” said Chris Vas, Executive Director of Liberty Alliance USA. “It is impossible for Peters Baker to fairly deal with potential election fraud and voter suppression while also serving as the chair of a political party that has routinely disparaged President Trump and his voters. Jackson County Republicans should be able to report election day issues to an impartial official. Jean Peters Baker either needs to recuse herself from all election-day operations, or resign as Missouri Democrat Party Chairwoman. Jean Peters Baker took an oath to uphold the Constitution for all of her constituents, not just Democrats. Jackson County deserves a government that works for ALL of its citizens.”
