Conservative Champion: David Wasinger
David Wasinger has a history of taking on special interests and winning. And he doesn’t plan on changing that anytime soon.
This is his story.
Wasinger grew up in the same place that brought us Mark Twain: Hannibal, Missouri.
His upbringing laid a strong foundation for the man he would become. The values of faith, family, and freedom are what he was raised on. They are the same values that guide him to this day.
He’s never forgotten where he’s come from. He’s a proud Missourian through and through.
After graduating as a Hannibal Pirate, Wasinger followed the family tradition of attending the state’s flagship university.
He studied accounting at the University of Missouri and proceeded to get his CPA. Wasinger’s education didn’t stop there though. He would go on to receive his law degree from Vanderbilt.
Wasinger achieved a unique skill set through both of these degrees. His attention to detail and knack for solving problems complemented his understanding of the law. He would become a force to be reckoned with.
After various clerkships, Wasinger joined a firm in St. Louis that focused on business litigation and real estate. There he gained his chops and became an expert in these areas.
In 1991, Wasinger took over that same law firm and made Wasinger Daming a powerhouse in Missouri.
And then, Wasinger Daming entered the national stage.
In 2012, Wasinger was tipped off by some of his clients that during the financial crisis of 2008 Countrywide Home Loans and J.P. Morgan Chase were both shelling out fraudulent loans and faulty mortgages. Wasinger understood that these actions were completely irresponsible and that they contributed to the economy’s decline during that time. Their actions left the American taxpayer on the hook.
So what did Wasinger do? He went to work. Someone had to take on Wall Street and Wasinger decided to answer that call.
The bout was set: Wasinger Daming vs Wall Street. A small boutique firm versus an army of lawyers.
It was truly David v. Goliath.
Wasinger understood the consequences if he failed, but those risks didn’t deter him. After all, he is comfortable with risk. He’s signed both sides of a paycheck as both an employee and employer.
The same work ethic that was instilled in him from Hannibal would be needed once again. His mettle would be tested.
And yet Wasinger would remain unfazed. Countless hours on the job, lots of flights to New York, and many fights in the courtroom paid off. Wasinger had stuck it to Wall Street and delivered for the American taxpayer.
