  • SLMPD: Under New Management

    June 24, 2025

Among the biggest victories of the 2025 legislative session was the passage of the criminal justice omnibus bill HB 495.

There were a lot of wins packed into HB 495.

The legislature took much-needed action to increase penalties for stunt driving, organized retail theft, and fentanyl distribution.

HB 495 gives law enforcement the tools it needs to deal with illegal immigration, mandating the reporting of immigration statuses.

The biggest win was the return of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) to citizen board control.

This week, Governor Kehoe announced the new members of the citizen board.

These leaders, including businessmen, community leaders, and Mayor Cara Spencer, will direct the SLMPD to protect and serve the people of St. Louis.

No longer will radical liberal local politicians be allowed to hamstring police and coddle criminals.

St. Louis can expect consistency and dependability from the state.

Missouri should be a place where it’s easier to be a cop than a criminal.

The Kehoe Administration prioritized citizen board control from Day 1.

The experts said it couldn’t be done.

    Governor Kehoe got it done.
