Missouri Needs Documentary Proof of Citizenship
The last few years have been marked by huge victories for the election integrity movement in Missouri.
Our state banned ranked-choice voting, ensured only citizens are allowed to vote, and banned foreign funding of ballot measures.
Missourians agree – our elections must be secure.
As we look towards the next legislative session, where do we go from here?
Documentary Proof of Citizenship
Missouri voters approved Amendment 7 in 2024 by a wider margin than any other statewide ballot measure or candidate.
Our state constitution now says clearly that only citizens may vote in our elections.
The problem is that our voter registration system has not kept up.
Anyone in the state can go on to the Secretary of State’s website to register to vote.

The first question asks for an attestation that the registrant is a US citizen.
No proof is required.
Voter registration is too important to leave to the honor system.
Why Now?
The US Senate has failed time and time again to deliver on the SAVE Act to require proof of citizenship nationwide.
Despite the House passing the bill twice and President Trump declaring it a priority, the SAVE Act is stuck in the mud.
Last year, Senator Ben Brown’s proof of citizenship legislation made it out of committee.
Missouri didn’t wait around for Washington, DC to close the loophole that allowed foreign nationals to donate to ballot measure campaigns. We took action.
Now is the time for Missouri to require documentary proof of citizenship for every voter registration.
Other States
Arizona requires proof of citizenship to vote a full ballot. Courts upheld their right to require proof of citizenship in 2024.
New Hampshire just held their first election with proof of citizenship requirements.
Wyoming passed a proof-of-citizenship law this past year.
Despite the fulminations of Liberal activists, there were no problems with these elections. There were no reports of people who were eligible to vote being denied because of the proof of citizenship requirements.
Time for Action
Missouri is an election integrity state.
It’s time to require documentary proof of citizenship for every voter registration.
It’s common sense.
This poll tells us loud and clear that Americans continue to overwhelmingly embrace commonsense election rules like proof of citizenship to vote, clean voter rolls, and reject calls for all-mail elections.https://t.co/lVQl1eWrZP
