The Missouri Miracle

For years, politicians knew that even if their state ranked poorly in some education or economic policy, at least they wouldn’t come in last.

Thank God for Mississippi.

Mississippi was always 50th. 

That’s why the ‘Mississippi Miracle’ is so impressive. 

Mississippi is the latest state to eliminate its income tax.

Now, Mississippi has the second fastest growing economy in the nation. 

It doesn’t stop there.

In 2012, Mississippi began reforming its education system.

Since then, the state has embraced phonics-based instruction, school choice, charter schools, open enrollment, and stopped promoting failing students.

Missouri has made great strides this session. 

The legislature is poised to eliminate income taxes on capital gains and to include $50 million for School Choice in the budget.

But we still have work to do. 

We can bring about a Missouri Miracle by doing away with the income tax and expanding school choice.
