  • Top Five Bills Signed by Governor Parson

    July 26, 2020

Governor Parson wrapped up the 2020 legislative session by signing 42 bills into law. Here are five bills signed into action that will continue to move Missouri in the right direction:

    SB 600

Governor Parson prioritized safety for Missourians when he signed SB600 into action. SB600 holds criminals accountable by creating mandatory prison sentences for certain violent felonies. The bill also establishes the Missouri Criminal Street Gangs Prevention Act, which will allow law enforcement to bring gang members to justice like never before.

    HB 1963

Parson signed HB1963, a bill that altered Missouri’s all-rider motorcycle helmet law. Now, riders above the age of 26 are free to choose whether or not they want to wear a helmet as long as they have health insurance. This bill is a step in the right direction for Missouri as it allows Missourians freedom from government overreach.

    HB 2046

HB2046 expands license reciprocity for individuals looking to live and work in Missouri. The bill eliminates governmental barriers to employment by allowing citizens to become licensed faster. This bill also cuts unnecessary red tape for military spouses looking to find work after relocating to Missouri, making Missouri an ideal destination for military families and others looking to move.

    HB 569

Survivors of sexual assault in Missouri are protected like never before after Parson signed SB569 into law. SB569 reforms the way in which sexual assault forensic evidence (SAFE) kits are handled, tracked, and processed, protecting important DNA evidence and helps law enforcement keep rapists off the street and behind bars – where they belong.

HB1414 assists and protects the 14,043 foster care children in Missouri by creating a response team to review those responsible for the state’s child welfare services. By creating a more transparent and effective foster care system, the state will be able to act in the best interest of the children in their care.

By signing these bills into action, Governor Parson has made the safety and welfare of Missourians his top priority. We will keep you up to date as more legislation comes out in future legislative sessions.
